Artist Statement

My goal as an artist is to entice people see things they might not notice otherwise, or simply to look at something in a different way. Although much of my work is abstract, there is always a message lying beneath the surface. It’s the job of the viewer to determine that message for themselves, for it will be different for each person.

My most current work reflects the desire of our society to reduce the amount of carbon emission and junk we leave on the planet. Already addicted to yard sales, I now make it my purpose to use only things that otherwise would have been thrown away, for example old furniture, hardware, and rusted metals. If I can save just one item from the junk heap and turn it into something interesting, then I have made one small contribution to save the earth.

I am a self-taught artist, and like to experiment with different mediums and techniques. To me, art is all about learning new ways to express my ideas, then challenging others to find their own meaning in the work.

Find your passion. Indulge it. Share it.
